Peter Kowalke: Fine Artist and Educator

Peter has his B.F.A. from Southern Methodist University and an M.F.A. from the University of Hawaii which integrated the studies of sculpture, island ecosystems, and fiction writing.

He has taught on many levels in Hawaii — from college to kindergarten — always emphasizing an interdisciplinary ‘project based’ learning style.

Kowalke has had over twenty professional painting and sculpture exhibits beginning at the age of sixteen. He has shown in several states as well as in Europe. His works are in private and public collections all over the world.

Kowalke’s work can be seen at the Gallery of Great things in Waimea. Peter is available for studio visits and private lessons in Hawi. See “Contact Us” for contact information and directions to the studio.

Kowalkeworks with ceramics and painting emphasizing the colors, gestures and forms found in nature.

Most works are done on site in natural settings responding to horses, landscapes, and natural phenomena.
